The Interim Joint Matriculation Board Examination (IMBE) serves as a qualifying test for admission into both Nigerian and Foreign Universities. It mainly focuses on Advanced Level subjects to facilitate Direct Entry into the 200-level programs at universities. The IMB Examination syllabus adheres to international educational standards and the admission prerequisites of different universities, both in Nigeria and abroad.
The IMB syllabus is designed to be covered within a single academic session spanning two semesters. Its structure ensures comprehensive coverage of all subjects within this timeframe. Each IMB subject syllabus concludes with a list of pertinent reading materials, aiding institutions, instructors, and students in the IMB program.
For thorough engagement with the IMB syllabus, it's advisable to dedicate 8-10 weekly lecture hours, encompassing practical and field work. The IMB syllabus might undergo revision approximately every eight years.

The IJMB initiative holds the endorsement of the Federal Government as a nationwide educational program. It is orchestrated across the country by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and encompasses various affiliated Study Centers. The IMB program establishes a platform through which successful candidates can secure direct admission into the 200 Level of both Nigerian universities and institutions abroad.
On an annual basis, approximately 30,000 candidates enroll in the IJMB program. Of these, roughly 20,000 applicants successfully complete the IJMB curriculum, enabling them to obtain admission into the 200 level of diverse universities across the nation.
IJMBcertification is granted by the Nigeria University Commission (NUC) and the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB). Recognized as an A'level program, IJMBE qualifies candidates for direct entry into the 200 Level of universities upon the satisfactory culmination of the IJMB program.
